Interpretation: Many Igbo communities easily drop letters in their pronunciation. This particular name started off as "nwa oké" (son of man). "Nwaoke," therefore is Igbo for male, but it is written "nwoke" in almost all modern literature. The southern Igbo communities of the riverine area took it a bit further and lost the "n"! \\
