SOLUIBE  [Solu ibe = Follow your kin.] 

Interpretation: In Igbo communities, a person without an agnate (umunna) might as well lie down and stop living; s/he merely exist. Ndiigbo are enjoined to stick together and do whatever good thing others are doing for the good of the community. See also MARAIBE

SOCHUKWUMA [So(oso) Chukwu ma = Only God knows] 

Interpretation: Onlu God knows what lurks in the hearts of people!

SOMADINA  [So(oso) m adina = May only me not exist] 

Interpretation: A prayer for more children to come, no human should be an island. This name is highly dialectical; mispronounced, it could mean: "May I not sleep alone." Now, that's an entirely different story!

SOPULUCHUKWU  [Sopulu Chukwu = Respect God] 

Interpretation: The obvious is reinforced; Ndiigbo are highly religious.

Gender: Male; Sopuruchi could be female, in keeping with the Chi/Chukwu trend

 

SOPULUNNA [Sopulu Nna = Respect thy father]

Interpretation: As in SOPULUCHI, this version originally refers to the respect of fathers as the head of household; however, with the advent of Christianity and the concept of God as "Father," this names convey similar meanings. Curiously, no one uses "Sopulunne"; it is obvious, mothers are supreme: See NNEKA
